So on Thursday, everyone will or is encouraged to draw a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that is mockable and probably extremely offensive. I have to say freedom of speech or not, this is quite ridiculous. To purposely try to offend people on such a mass scale is just as absurd as the people who show up to watch Sarah Palin at Tea Parties. I know at least that I, as an educated Pakistani woman, would NEVER say yet draw an offensive cartoon whether it be of Moses, Jesus, Buddha, or any Hindu deity. To make fun of ANY religion, in any way, is shallow, ignorant, and an uneducated attempt towards attention. To accept and understand religion is much much harder.
So this whole cartoon thing was some Molly Norris's idea, after a supposedly controversial South Park episode, which has been followed by around five years of controversies because of some Danish dude who posted some ignorant cartoon. What Muslims need to realize is, that we need to stop caring about what others say or think. It is OUR religion, and we need to continue on with OUR lives to make ourselves better as people and as Muslims. Torching a western franchise or by staging violent protests only hurts us. We should chose to be nonchalant and practice the realities of Islam that preach tolerance, peace, and respect for others.

Well said. No matter how many times they draw out Prophet pbuh and no matter how long they continue these cowardly act, His greatness won't diminish. We can't relate to their lack of intellect or ignorance, and we should most definitely not drop to their level. The protest held in Liberty confirms that we are better than them in many ways. We don't need to insult someone or their religion to feel better about ourselves.
