bye bye 2009.

singapore's new year starts with kisses and silence. the crowd is quiet and people softly click the buttons on their cameras. very few people hoot, and a few cars nearby decide to honk. girls sit on a bench taking their own photographs, and old couples hold hands while watching in awe. fathers let their daughters sit on their shoulders and watch, while their boys are held tightly in their arms. the new year begins with peace.

when i initially started my blog i wanted it to be all about pakistan. but since i am not living there these days, i am going to talk about singapore. it does not snow here, or get cold, but the city/country has by far the best christmas decorations i have ever seen. orchard road is the place to be as soon as the sun sets. the streets are alive with color and soft noise, and brings life to the extremely fine city.
